□ Name: Vriska Serket
□ Journal: http://alloftheluck.dreamwidth.org/
□ Series: Homestuck
□ Canon point: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007997
□ History: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Vriska_Serket
□ Personality:
Like many of the Homestuck characters, Vriska is extremely complex and multidimensional. On the surface she is an abrasive, self serving, manipulative and a rather self glorifying person. In fact she is first introduced as being a huge bitch (bluh bluh). She gets easily bored, makes all kinds of nefarious deals with people, and has even gone so far as killing a few of her friends. She projects a strong, confident and overbearing personality. However, she hides a very insecure center and seems to worry far too much on how others perceive her. This part of her may not be as apparent at first, but it becomes obvious when she talks to people she is trying to impress (John, Meenah) and she asks repeatedly if they approve of her or her actions.
Vriska is an incredibly attention-seeking troll, and she believes everything is centered around her. In fact she is constantly stating that she is the smartest, strongest, and all around best, almost as if she were trying to convince herself as much as she was trying to convince those around her. She wants to be in the limelight, and whether it is for villainous or heroic reasons, she wants everyone to know that she was the one to make it happen. This was shown when she created Bec Noir; when she tried to push Tavros (and later John) to be the heroes; and even when she was on the treasure hunt. She wants people to see her, to know that it was her that did these great deeds. Vriska is actually really fond of stories and often talks a lot, mostly about herself but also enjoys giving people relevant information in order to help them along.
She is the type of person who gets emotional really easily and makes impulsive decisions when agitated. She killed Tavros in frustration when her attempts to toughen him up were not going well. She is a means-justify-ends kind of person, stepping on people to accomplish tasks, but this can also go back to her being a glory hog as well.
Vriska was initially introduced as being a master of extreme roleplaying. She loves any games that may involve high stakes or a risk. She is described to be an apocalypse buff and is fascinated by end-of-the-world scenarios. She even has a hobby of building doomsday devices for fun, although none of them have ever worked, and they are incredibly shitty. Vriska often sees most things as a game to be won. The (rather meta) apocalypse obsession and propensity towards immersing herself in gaming maybe a way to escape her current reality. Its a bit easier for her to deal with situations if it feels like she’s playing a game. Vriska also seems to have a sort of fixation when it comes to the number eight. She painstakingly counts out eight letters to emphasize what she’s saying and gets visibly upset when she makes a mistake and counts out nine instead. She also places a huge amount of faith in luck and fortune, perhaps as an early inclination to her aspect. She tends to curse her luck when it goes bad, though in all truth it is most often caused by her own actions.
Her lusus (guardian/custodian/pet), is a giant spider. Spidermom survives on a steady diet of young trolls that Vriska has to provide. She mentions how, since she was young, she had come to realize that her lusus was getting too big and that she would no longer be able to hide it in the caves to prey upon wayward wigglers (baby trolls) for sustenance. This was a cause of great stress for her because a) If her lusus died she would be vulnerable to culling by trolls who were older and stronger than her, b) Her lusus might get too hungry and devour her instead. Trolls and their lusii have sort of a symbiotic relationship; the lusus protects them from other trolls or lusii and the troll is responsible for it’s care. It did not help that her lusus’s hunger seemed to gradually increase as it aged, causing Vriska to resort to preparing a steady stream of trolls in order to sate it. Because of all this she seems to have a very complex relationship with her lusus. On one hand, she resents that she has to spend so much of her time worrying about keeping both it and herself alive while, on the other, she cares about her as one would a parent. She was absolutely concerned when she spoke to Kanaya and heard that her lusus may have been killed, thus running off to check in on her right away. And when Spidermom was dying, Vriska did what she could to put her out of her misery. She states later to John that when her lusus was kernel-sprite’d (a mechanic of the game she played) and able to directly communicate with her that they mostly just avoided one another.
Because of this relationship, Vriska had it imparted in herself from an early age that only the strongest trolls deserved to live. Weaker ones were defeated and meant to become nothing more than food for the fauna. It was dog-eat-dog world out there, and someone was to come out on top it sure as hell would be her. Finding her ancestor’s journal was a crucial step in formulating her personality. Mindfang represents who she aspires to be, and quite possibly who she would have become if SGRUB hadn’t happened. Vriska read Mindfang’s journal religiously. She wanted to BE her. Sadly Vriska missed the point of the journal in a way, as it wasn’t meant to be followed literally. It was meant to be a cautionary tale so her descendant could avoid the mistakes Mindfang, herself, had made.
Vriska is an avid player of a game called FLARP--Fatal Live Action Role Play. She uses it as a means to find unlucky trolls in which to feed her lusus. Her roleplay character is Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, a gamblingant (pirate) that was based almost exactly upon her ancestor of the same name. During her campaigns she’d have a number of pirate themed sessions with Eridan Ampora. Together they would loot treasure and have a mutually beneficial bargain where the trolls they defeated were fed to Vriska’s lusus. The lusii of the dead trolls were then killed and fed to Gl’bgolyb, Feferi’s lusus whom Eridan helped care after. It was in during one such venture that both she and Eridan had found their ancestor’s ultimate weapons, the Fluorite Octet and Ahab’s crosshairs. The two of them also had a fairly decent kismessitude (an intimate rivalry) going on for a while. Asides from Eridan, her main FLARP partner was Terezi Pyrope. Together they were the Scourge Sisters, and defeated trolls in the name of justice. The perpetrators also ended up becoming spider food. Asides from Mindfang, she also has a spidersona that she roleplays on occasion, but she is just as terrible playing that. Pretty much most of her characters are terrible. Also she doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty and is a known cheater. As long as she can win, its no big deal to her.
It is implied that Vriska actually doesn’t enjoy killing as much as she pretends to. In her conversation with John she talks about having to meet a certain criteria for ruthlessness in order to be accepted in her caste. She feels that she needs to appear as a strong person or else she’d be culled. She had always accepted this as her reality. Vriska was genuinely upset when she had killed Tavros, saying she had never wanted to kill him or any of the people she perceived as friends. She is filled with remorse after severely harming her FLARP team as well. She tells John that secretly one of the reasons she wanted to go against Bec was because she wanted to protect her friends. Culture tells her that she needs to be ruthless and having feelings for people below her was seen as weak. Sometimes when Vriska is called out on her bullshit she gets into a depressive state, and goes really hard on herself. She thinks it is easier for her to say terrible things about herself rather than hearing it from others. Despite the horrible things she does she really wants to help. Although most of the time, her meddling often leads to the opposite effect.
Vriska likes to see herself as a great manipulator, often using her mind control, but more often than not she ends up being the one manipulated herself. She spends so much time blustering on about all her terrible plans that she often misses when someone has the upper hand. She’s resilient though, and after her initial anger blows over, she happily gives the other person the win that she thinks they deserved. Her job class in the game she played is the ‘Thief of Light’, and aspect that has a lot to do with knowledge, luck and information. Her class has the ability to steal, but only in a way that it is self serving. Thus putting her class and aspect together the general description of her purpose in SGRUB was to “steal luck, information, and knowledge from others”. She is one of the few trolls in her session to attain god tier (the highest echelon one could reach in the game) and shames the other trolls’ weakness and their fear of death which is required to attain the rank.
In the dream bubbles (the afterlife), during a vast treasure hunt, Vriska took a different approach in order to attain her goal. Her style of playing had changed and instead of jumping into the situation, and level grinding till she was the best, she used to her aspect as the thief of light in order to gather as much information as she could. Doing so would help her find the ultimate weapon in which to successfully divert Lord English (the big-bad of the story). Vriska is a very sociable troll, she has many connections and likes being in cahoots with various people in order to attain what she wants. However, she often burns many of the bridges she strives to create.
For example, Vriska and Equius have a very friendly relationship. From the few conversations we see between them, it is apparent that they interact quite a bit. They are neighbors, close enough that Vriska can hear the racket when Equius is fighting his robots. Both of them have similar personality traits, emotional reactions, and share an almost fetististic penchant for breaking things. When one looks at their homes it is obvious that they heavily influenced by one another. In fact, both of their castles share the same ostentatious gothic style, Equius’s one being on a slightly higher (but precarious-looking) cliff across from hers. She seems to respect him, often tapping him for machine parts (for her shitty doomsday devices) and favors. Equius was also the person who imparted her with a mechanical prosthetic arm, but was also smart enough to install controls to slap her when she is being particularly insufferable. Their interactions are also quite hilarious to see. Equius goads her on when she goes to mess with lowbloods and pushes her to be a good representative of her caste in the hemospectrum. She in turn teases him at how literally he takes things. Casual backstabbing is a matter of course with the two of them, and neither of them take it personally.
Eridan is Vriska’s ex-kismesis. He was her cohort back when they used to FLARP together. She seemed to respect him, referring to him as an especially powerful and influential member of the nautical aristocracy. He was the one who often bought her incredibly shitty doomsday devices. Before SGRUB started, she broke up with him and blocked him from her trollian chat client. Most likely since he was being too overbearing for her. Much later though she begins to miss his company.
Kanaya is Vriska’s former moirail (platonic relationship). She seems to have quite a bit of affection towards Kanaya even though outwardly she shows disdain for her constant meddling. Vriska seems to be absolutely oblivious towards Kanaya’s less platonic feelings towards her though. Later in the story, she seems to grow aware of Kanaya’s colder reactions towards her, but she assumed that it was simply because Kanaya had wanted Tavros. LAter though Kanaya has a shining moment of badass which turns the tables and ends up with Vriska developing a minor short-term crush on her.
Tavros and Vriska have one of the more complex relationships in the story. Vriska claims to hate him, and he does often seem to infuriate her, but they also go into periods where they like each other and are decent friends. They often adventure and go on side quests together, often putting them in situations where she ends up bullying him. She genuinely seems to want to help him be better, to make decisions, and his indecisive traits infuriate her. At one point she even goes so far as to push him off a cliff because he couldn’t decide between advancing and absconding. Vriska wants Tavros to be able to make important decisions on his own. She gives him the option of doing so when she was dying on her quest bed, and was pretty disappointed when he chose to flee instead of putting an end to her misery. Her methods can be pretty extreme, once trying to get him to crawl up flights of stairs in hope that is would make him stronger (despite the fact that he was crippled from the waist down at the time). When he did act, it was always too little too late, according to her. After they died they had a bit of an unconfirmed matespritship for a bit. She seemed to do better with him when she was alone. Once other people were involved though, Vriska’s ego took over and she couldn’t help but show off, often by bullying Tavros. This caused him to eventually leave her.
Terezi and Vriska were teammates back when they played FLARP together. Vriska seems to be a bit jealous of Terezi’s natural ability to be able to manipulating people around her into doing what she wants. Terezi is a character driven by her sense of justice, but Vriska thinks that this is simply justification for a person who is a killer deep down. In one conversation she tells her that Terezi would eventually end up doing something that she couldn’t take back, and that she was going to regret using justice as an excuse. Inadvertently, this foreshadowed her own death by Terezi’s hands. She tried tried to start up a rivalry with her again during the events in the Veil, but Terezi wasn’t interested. Underneath all of the bickering and maiming and killing one another, though, both girls actually do genuinely care about the other.
Befriending John was initially Vriska’s ploy at competing with Terezi and had a keen interest in helping him get powerful throughout the game. She even invested her own loot in aiding him, something which she rarely does. She may have seen his similarities to Tavros, since both he and John are Breath players, and thus empathizes with him. Because of this, she tricks John into his death so that he could achieve god tier. Thinking that he would be mad about it, she was genuinely surprised when he acted like he was unfazed. Over the course of the game, she begins to highly value his opinion, and opens up to him in a way that she hadn’t been able to with any of the trolls. She spoke to him at length about her remorse over killing her friends and the expectations of her caste. Before her death, she had even asked him if he was interested in a date with her. Eventually she would come to briefly date an alternate version of him in the dream bubbles, but at the end of it they went their separate ways. She still regards Alpha John as her friend and is genuinely hurt when he thought that she was a dangerous person. On a sillier note, after John introduced her to the movie Con Air, Vriska also had developed an obsession with Nicolas Cage. Her room became covered in Nic Cage memorabilia. She even went so far as to draw her own face over the lead actress’s on his posters.
Upon entering Ariel she would see it as a new game to be won and will spend a lot of her time gathering the information in order to make her way to the top. She would probably try and make as many connections, new and old to help her meet her new goals.
□ Age: 16 years (7.5 sweeps).
□ Gender: Female
□ Appearance: Like all trolls, Vriska has a set of candy corn colored horns, grey skin, eyes with yellow sclera, and (long messy) black hair. Unlike other trolls, her eyes are asymmetrical, one of them has seven pupils while the other has just one. Her horns reflect her association with the Zodiac sign Scorpio and are shaped like a pincer and a stinger respectively.
Since highbloods are generally supposed to be physically stronger and she is a proven fighter, I headcanon her to be reflective of that. Vriska is a tall girl, at 5 feet 8 inches without horn height. She has an hourglass build, though she’s not quite filled out to her full potential yet. Her breasts are on the larger side of average, with thick muscular thighs but rather gawky and spindly extremities. Her facial features are a bit on the sharper side as well, alluding to her rougher personality. She is just a little too sharp to be considered pretty in the traditional sense.
I imagine her body type to be similar to this.
She is usually depicted wearing a t shirt with her symbol on it, a grey jacket, blue jeans and a set of red converses.
I would also like to play her with the bulge/ nook combination that some of the other troll players headcanon. The bulge is a retractable, prehensile penis and the nook is basically a troll vagina. Trolls also expel a lot of genetic fluid. Enough to fill buckets. Vriska’s genetic material are a lighter shade of her blood color, like troll tears.

□ Abilities/Powers:
-Vriska Serket has powers over mind control, though it only works on trolls who have a very weak will (Karkat, Tavros, Sollux half the time). It seems to only cause involuntary sleep for humans.
-Vriska has vision eightfold in one of her eyes. With the help of a specially crafted lens she is able to focus the seven pupils in her one eye so that she can see through objects, much like an x-ray. She was only shown to use this on the Magic Cueball.
-Her main weapon is the Fluorite Octet. It is a set of dice that manifests different attacks depending on the combinations it lands on. The attack can vary from something as useless as a ridiculous hat, to something as powerful as an attack that can completely decimate a giant monstrous final boss with little effort. It all depends on her luck.
-As a fully realized Thief of Light, she has the power to steal luck and knowledge from any of her opponents. It also grants her the power of flight through her god tier wings. She can also roll higher points on her dice using the luck attribute.
-She is fairly physically strong, since she is a cerulean blood, and is fairly agile as well. She was even able to conduct a complicated bit of psychic revenge just after losing an arm and eye, and had enough humor to joke about it afterwards.
